Reforestation

AMOVALE’s reforestation project aims to recuperate areas of springs and riparian forests, which are important natural resources to preserve the environment of river banks and avoid erosion in areas that have been degraded by deforestation, fires and the inadequate use of the land. In 2014, we started planting trees around the streams that flow into the Bananal river. Periodically, we gather volunteers and partner associations to plant native species of the Atlantic Forest biome. With seedlings donated by various institutions, mainly CEDAE – State Water and Sewer Company of Rio de Janeiro, we are able to restore the native forest in these places. We work on recovering the water volume of the Bananal river which has been degraded for decades.

Project Recovering Springs

Brazil has 12% of the world’s freshwater reserves. It is our obligation to preserve the springs that are the most important source of drinking water. With that in mind, we developed the project to recover the springs that supply the Bananal river. Landowners with water points on their land are invited to join us in our efforts.

Riparian Forest Project

The Riparian Forest protects our rivers. This vegetation is as important for water bodies as eyelashes are for our eyes. It avoids silting and preserves the quality of river water. This is the focus of one of our most important projects: reforesting the banks of the Bananal river.
